I am reminded of the many years  I spent in the entertainment industry. I learned a lot working out of Hollywood and NYC, the two markets that I did the majority of my work.

One of the most important lessons I learned was to “Take the Shot.” We didn’t have days, weeks or  months to make decisions. Because while you were trying to decide on an opportunity that presented itself, someone else would come along and take the shot.

I love working with risk takers who are willing to leave their comfort zone and go for it.
A mentor once told me that I needed to learn how to make decisions quickly in business and live with the wins or the losses. One of my coaches, who is oftentimes on television coaching celebrities, told me,  “it’s easier to give birth to a nine month baby than a nine year old baby.”

She explained, “When God gives you a vision to birth, everything that’s needed at that time to birth that vision is already in place. But if you hesitate and wait, you can still give birth to the vision, but everything that was in place when you first receive the call may no longer be there. Therefore, it’s going to be more difficult to get it done.”

We must remember who we are and stop allowing people who don’t know how to “Take the Shot” influence you to remain the same. We can’t afford the carry the burden of wasted potential by thinking we have a lot of time.
If COVID has taught us anything, it’s that we better do it now.

Over the years, I’ve taken some big shots. Ones that scared me. But the shots I took landed me in spaces I never could have imagined. Doing business at levels that blew my mind.

If you want to play a bigger game, you got start thinking bigger and taking bigger actions. In order to play a bigger game, you gotta play with folks who are not afraid to “Take the Shot.” There are folks who love planning and talking about what they are going to do. Then there are those who just do it. Because that’s what successful folks do. They “Take the Shot!
